Welcome to January’s edition of the Roundup!

As we step into the dawn of a new year, it is with great enthusiasm and a sense of anticipation that I extend my warmest greetings to the entire TPC team.

The arrival of a new year is more than just a change in the calendar; it’s a symbol of fresh opportunities, renewed energy, and the chance to redefine our goals. Reflecting on the achievements and challenges of the past year, I am filled with gratitude for the dedication and hard work that each team member has contributed to our collective success.

As we turn the page to a new chapter, let’s carry forward the lessons learned, and the triumphs celebrated. The canvas of the new year is blank, waiting for us to paint it with the bold strokes of innovation, collaboration, and continued excellence. Together, we can set ambitious goals and work towards achieving them with the same spirit and determination that defines our TPC.

I want to express my sincere appreciation for your efforts and contributions. It is through the collective strength of our team that we will continue to grow, adapt, and succeed in the face of any challenges that may come our way.

Cheers to a successful and fulfilling new year!

Nic

We are proud!

We are a proud partner of The Pinnacle Foundation, Australia’s LGBTQIA+ education charity.

Each year, with our support, The Pinnacle Foundation awards educational scholarships for tertiary studies to young LGBTQIA+ Australians, many of who continue to face family, faith and community rejection because of how they identify. Every Pinnacle Foundation scholar is matched with a mentor who has walked their path.

Young LGBTQIA+ Australians are one of the most disadvantaged cohorts in the country. By supporting them to secure an education, we help them to contribute richly to society for everyone’s benefit.

We invite you to learn more about this inspiring cohort of talented young Australians, their studies, achievements and ambitions here.

Birthday Celebrations

If you see Ligil (2nd January), and Watson (27th January) on their special day make sure to stop and wish them a happy birthday!

The Spirit of Australia Day

On Australia Day we celebrate all the things we love about Australia: land, sense of fair go, lifestyle, democracy, the freedoms we enjoy but particularly our people.

Australia Day is about acknowledging the contribution every Australian makes to our contemporary and dynamic nation. From our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have been here for more than 65,000 years, to those who have lived here for generations, to those who have come from all corners of the globe to call our country home.

The 26 January is an important date in Australia’s history that has evolved over time. Starting as a celebration for emancipated convicts, today is a day to acknowledge past wrongs and show respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ survival, resilience, and enduring culture.

It is also a day we pay respect to the stories, histories and contributions of the Australians who lived, worked, and fought for the values and freedoms we often take for granted.

And it is a day we celebrate the diversity of this nation’s people with our various cultures, traditions, and belief systems.

Australia Day continues to be hugely popular, with 3 in 4 Australians believing it has a bigger meaning beyond being just a day off.

More than half of all Australians participate in Australia Day attending events organised by State Governments, local councils, community groups or getting together with family and friends.  In addition, over 16,000 new Australians become citizens on Australia Day.

Recipe of the Month

Cranberry-Basil Spritzer

Cold weather doesn’t mean letting go of every chilled beverage. This spritzer combines the tastes of the cooler season with the refreshing fizz of warmer weather drinks.

Ingredients Instructions
  • 1 water
  • 1 sugar
  • 1/2 basil leaves
  • 2 unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1/4 fresh lime juice
  • 1liter chilled club soda
  • 4slice lime
  • 1 fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 basil leaves

Step 1

In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, bring water and sugar to a boil. Stir to dissolve sugar. Add 1/2 cup basil leaves, remove pan from heat, and let steep for 20 minutes.

Step 2

Strain syrup and let cool for at least 1 hour. In a large pitcher, combine syrup, unsweetened cranberry juice, and fresh lime juice.

Step 3

Fill pitcher with chilled club soda, then add lime slices, fresh cranberries, and 1/2 cup basil leaves. To serve, pour spritzers over ice, top each with a splash more club soda, and garnish with basil.
